LASG exposes 30 students to road, bridge construction

By Aderonke Ojediran Lagos, June 28, 2024 (NAN) Lagos State Government on Friday reiterated its commitment to engaging local engineers and students in higher institutions to ensure transfer of knowledge in roads and bridge construction.   Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso, gave the during a tour of five strategic road and bridge projects.   The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the government selected for internship, no fewer than 30 students studying civil engineering in both private and public universities.   The projects toured include Abiola-Onijemo link road with bridge, Ikeja GRA regeneration road project, and Opebi Mende-link bridge and roads.   The others include Arowojobe link bridge and approach road at Maryland, Agidi Demurin and Church Street Network, and Saint Finbarrs Road (UNILAG to Abule Okuta- Soluyi).   Omotosho said: ” Many of our youths have been employed, we have seen our students working ther...

Hajj: Lagos wants NAHCON address challenges ahead of 2025 pilgrimage

    Hajj By Aderonke Ojediran Lagos, June 27, 2024 (NAN) Lagos State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Mr Ibrahim Layode, has called on the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to meet with stakeholders to find solutions to pilgrims’ challenges.   Layode made the call during a press conference in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, according to a statement by an Assistant Director of Public Affairs, Lagos State Welfare Pilgrims Board, Mr Taofeek Lawal.   The commissioner said that most of the challenges encountered during 2024 Hajj were from inadequacies of the commission. Delta Govt. urges vulnerable persons to register for affordable health scheme

  Health By Clara Egbogota Asaba, June 21, 2024 (NAN)Delta State Contributory Health Scheme (DSCHC) has urged vulnerable persons to register for the ongoing affordable health insurance scheme for a quality health care. Dr Isaac Akpoveta, Director General of the scheme, made the appeal during the registration of 295 vulnerable persons on Friday in Asaba. Akpoveta said that an indigent required N7,000 to register for the scheme to access quality health care in a health facility of his choice for a year. According to the DG, the 295 persons being registered today are sponsored by his family because of the passion for better health care services to the people. “With an insurance card, they will receive quality healthcare services from any facility of their choice for one year. “With this, we have enrolled over two million residents of Delta State with over 7 million encounters since inception of the scheme about eight years ago,” he said. LASG trains 60 engineers on bridge construction

   Training By Aderonke Ojediran Lagos, June 20, 2024 (NAN) The Office of Infrastructure, Lagos State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure on Thursday began training of no fewer than 60 engineers on bridge construction.   The three-day training is taking place at the Public Service Staff Development Centre, Magodo, Lagos State.     The training, with the theme: “Bridge Building: From Theory to Practice”, will focus on practical application of knowledge. It is aimed at enhancing the skills and expertise of engineers in bridge and road constructions. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the training covers various aspects of bridge building such as design, construction, and maintenance. LASG wants pupils to maintain good hygiene as schools resume

Hygiene By Aderonke Ojediran Lagos, June 18, 2024 (NAN) Ahead of schools’ resumption from mid-term and Eid-el Kabir breaks, the Lagos State Government has called on public and private school administrators to ensure pupils’ hygiene in order to curb cholera outbreak. The state Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, made the call at a press briefing at the Lagos House, Marina. ” The children are resuming school, universities too are resuming; so, we are working very closely with our two commissioners in education, to make sure that we sensitise teachers and school clinics. “When there is severe vomiting, it is crucial to start the first aid. “We are still on high alert, we are not relaxing in anyway so that we protect our children. ” Don’t collect treatments on streets, don’t go and take antibiotics, you may not need to, you may just need rehydration,” he said. 2024 Hajj Pilgrims pray for Lagos State

  Lagos, June 5, 2024 (NAN) Lagos State pilgrims observing the 2024 Hajj exercise in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday acknowledged the gestures of the State leadership with fervent prayers in the Holy Land. The Commissioner for Home Affairs, Mr Ibrahim Layode, said this while addressing pilgrims on his arrival at Mekaah.
