Nigeria needs friendly policies for businesses to thrive —Media Executive

  By Oluwatope Lawanson Mr Steve Omanufeme, Managing Director/Editor-In- Chief, Daily Independent Newspapers, has urged the Federal Government to implement friendly policies to enable businesses to flourish in the country. Omanufeme made the appeal during the 2023 Annual Thanksgiving Service of the Daily Independent Newspapers, held on Wednesday at Ogba, Lagos. He also advised President Bola Tinubu to avoid announcing plans without putting proper measures in place to ameliorate the attendant effects. Omanufeme agreed that the pronouncement of the economic policies by the Tinubu was long overdue. He, however, said that the timing was not right adding that it should have been properly planned and phased out. Interpol, Nigerian Police Drag Realtor, Abimbola Odupaye To Court For Alleged N457m Fraud - Freezes Odupaye's Assets Pending Investigation

    Following an urgent petition by a real estate company, INTERPOL has commenced investigation and frozen the assets of one Odupaye Abimbola Joseph on grounds of alleged fraud. Odupaye Abimbola Joseph and her company, Tigers Property LLC have been charged before a Nassarawa Chief Magistrates' for allegedly obtaining N457 million under false pretences. Other respondents in the suit number M/185/2024 are United Bank For Africa (UBA), Guaranteed Trust Bank, Polaris Bank, Access Bank, Eco Bank, Wema Bank, Fidelity Bank, Abbey Mortgage Bank, First  Bank  and Toluwani Gideon Olisa. The petitioner, through his counsel, Mr David Njoku, said that the real estate company paid the sum of N467 million to Joseph and her company for the purchase of four ( one bedroom units) of what  they  claimed to be their Regina Tower Project in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Delta Govt. wants students’ participation in health insurance scheme

  Insurance By Clara Egbogota Asaba, Feb. 13, 2024 (NAN) Mr Isaac Akpoveta, Director-General of Delta State Contributory Health Commission,  has urged Nigerian students to key into the contributory health insurance scheme. Akpoveta gave the advice on Tuesday at the launch of the Tertiary Institutions Social Health Insurance Programme (TISHIP). The event held at the Dennis Osadebe University, Asaba. According to the official, all  Nigerian students should enrol into the scheme due to the benefits. “Delta State is the number one to take it up and domesticate it.   Nigerian writer, journalist and author Tomi Falade is set to unveil two literary exploits on Sunday, February 11. The event is billed to be hosted by Gbenga Adeyinka 1st at De Rembrandt Hotel, Alausa, Lagos and will see Falade unveiling her first two books, ‘OLOBUN: Matriarch Of Ondo, Mother Of Legacy’, and ‘Dates From Hell.’ Falade, an entertainment editor with Independent Newspapers Ltd, opened up on her foray into the world of writing as an author and journalism saying, “My love for literature is what led me to journalism, and after over a decade in the media industry, my flair for telling extraordinary stories has not waned.
