The tournament, which served-off Oct. 25 to Oct. 28 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, had the players playing the best of five games. The inauguration of the academy, which has 40 pupils in the Under 13 and Under 18 categories) took place at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos. Chekas FC thrashed High Klass 4-1

The contenders are gradually moving away from pretenders, as matches continue in the LASU Conference of the ongoing 1XBET Cup Championship, taking place at LASU Stadium, Ojo.  In the first game of matchday 2, Chekas FC thrashed High Klass 4-1 in a group A encounter, with Henry Nwosu scoring the opener in the 14th minute and Victor Bruno got a quick response for High Klass in 18th. Justin Hezekiah netted a quick fire brace in the 46th and 48th minutes.  In the other group A game, Vinmo Energy defeated LASU Blazers 2-1 to go second on the log behind Chekas who had superior goals advantage. Earlier in the day, Young Stars defeated Ajegunle United 3-0 in a group B game.  Wednesday games in the championship will see Chekas FC and Vinmo Energy clash to determine winner in group A. While in group B, Joint FC and Ajegunle United will face-off, and with Badagry United tackling Young Stars FC in the second game of the group.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the tournament served-off on Wednesday at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos. NAN reports that the tournament is sanctioned by the Professional Squash Association and the World Squash Federation. Tomi Falase, Chairman, Lagos State Squash Association, described the quality of play as impressive, and hoped that the tournament would continue next year. “I’m really impressed, one is never sure what to expect. 180 players jostle for laurels in John Hett Sports Foundation squash championship

Squash By Aderonke Ojediran Lagos, Oct. 23, 2023 (NAN) No fewer than 180 players will converge on the squash court of Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, to compete in the maiden edition of the John Hett Sports Foundation (JHSF) squash championship from Oct. 25 to 28. The Chairman of Yellow Dot Squash Association, Sola Adekunle, said this at a press conference on Monday. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the tournament is sanctioned by the Professional Squash Association (PSA) and the World Squash Federation (WSF). Adekunle said for the first time, both female and male participants will go home with the same prize money: N400,000 for the overall winner, N200,000 for second position and N120,000 for the third and fourth placed winners in both male and female categories.
