Squash: Maiden edition of Geophase annual tournament good for ex-pros——ex-player

  Squash     By Aderonke Ojediran   Lagos, Jan. 22, 2024 (NAN) Some ex-pros squash players on Monday have said that having the maiden of the Geophase Club Pro Squash Tournament, for ex-pros players would give former players a sense of belonging after retirement, from playing squash competitively.     In separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos they described the just concluded maiden edition of Geophase Annual which held at The Lagos Country Club Ikeja, as a well thought out tournament.       NAN reports that the Geophase Club Pro Squash Tournament, the first of its kind in Nigeria, is specifically designed for former professional squash players who had once earned a living from playing Squash but are now bonafide members of various Squash Playing Clubs across the country.     Yusuf Durosinlorun, a one time number two ranked player in the 1990’s told NAN that playing at the tournament brought back memories. FRSC, Delta Command, disassociates self from sale of stickers

  Stickers By Clara Egbogota Asaba, Jan. 19, 2024 (NAN) The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Delta State Command, has disassociate itself from an unscrupulous act by some persons extorting money from unsuspecting shuttle bus drivers through the sale of stickers. Mr Bassey Eshiet, the FRSC Sector Commander, in a statement on Friday, said that the claim that the stickers belonged to the FRSC was not true. According to him, the claim that the sticker will protect them from arrest if they violate any traffic law, is unfounded, warning that anyone who violates traffic laws will be prosecuted. “FRSC hereby informs the motoring public, especially the shuttle bus drivers, that FRSC, Delta State Command is not in partnership with anybody to perpetrate such unwholesome practice. “The practice negates what the Corps was established to carry out, hence they should refuse to be scammed through such antics of mischief makers and extortionists,” he said.   Volleyball By Aderonke Ojediran Lagos, Jan. 4, 2024 (NAN) Samuel Ajayi, Head Coach of the Nigeria Women’s Team on Thursday, said the selection of players for the African Games qualifiers cuts across all age grades to allow for inclusiveness. Ajayi who stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, named 12 players for the upcoming African Games Qualifiers scheduled for Lagos. “Because of the developmental programme of the federation, we pulled the selection of players from U-17, U-19 and U-20; we are able to see some potential in the underage group. “This will afford us to have a formidable team that can win medals for the country. “The federation has done the best they can.
