NYSC swears in 2,373 youth corps members in Delta

  By Clara Egbogota Asaba, Nov. 28, 2023 (NAN) National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has sworn-in 2,373 youth corps members of the 2023 Batch ‘C’ Stream ‘II’ deployed to Delta State for the one year national service. Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, who declared the three weeks orientation course open on Tuesday at Issele Uku Orientation camp, congratulated them on successful completion of their academic pursuits, which qualified them for national service. Oborevwori, who was represented by Agbateyiniro Isaac, the Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, said orientation course was designed to instill necessary skills and leadership values for successful participation in the one-year programme. He said “I urge you to settle down and actively engage in the various activities of the orientation course. Electricity cooperative model, potential solution to ailing energy sector – Lagos commissioner

    By Oluwatope Lawanson The Lagos State Government says its  new electricity cooperative model initiative is a potential solution to the ailing energy sector in the country, particularly in the state. The state’s Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade & Investment, Mrs Folashade Ambrose-Medebem, made this known at a one-day maiden symposium in Lagos on Thursday. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the symposium,   organised by the Lagos State Cooperative College is with the theme: “Venturing into Power Sector: The Electric Cooperative Model”. NAN reports  that the electric cooperative is a private, not-for-profit company whose purpose is to safely deliver electricity to its consumers or members at the most affordable price possible. The workshop was entitled “Harnessing The Potential of Corps Members through Effective Utilisation: The Role of Corps Employers”.  Sports 1XBET By Aderonke Ojediran Lagos, Nov. 23, 2023 (NAN) Bariga FC from Ikeja Conference on Thursday defeated Ighalo FC from Epe Conference by 2-0 in the final of the maiden edition of 1XBET Community Football Cup at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Bariga FC went home with N1 million for winning the tournament, while the first runner-up, Ighalo FC won N500,000. Young Strikers of Lagos Island came third winning N300,000, after defeating De Elite FC of Epe Conference 1-0 in the third place match. The final saw Bariga FC mounting pressure on Odion Ighalo Academy, and the team’s effort was rewarded when Bariga FC’s No. 11 Babatunde Oladejo scored the first goal in the first half. In spite of Odion Ighalo Academy’s efforts, the team met a brick stone in the bid to equalise. Twenty minutes into the second half, Benjamin Friday, fondly called Raul by his teammates, sealed Bariga FC’s victory in the final by netting the second goal.
