Computer Village inaugurates biometric registration to curb crime, boost investors’ confidence

  The leadership of the Ikeja Computer Village in Lagos has begun a biometric registration and enumeration exercise to sanitise the market, curb criminal activity, and restore investors’ confidence. The Leader of the market women (Iyaloja) at the Computer Village, Mrs Abisola Azeez, said in a news conference in Lagos that the exercise was part of a broader rebranding effort to address issues like phone snatching, fraudulent technicians and substandard goods. Azeez said that the market’s leadership announced the move after a recent security incident led the Lagos State Task Force to consider a complete shutdown of the village. She said that the market representatives intervened to safeguard legitimate traders. LASG seeks strategic partnership to tackle coastal erosion

Erosion  The Lagos State Government has announced plans to further scale up the deployment of groyne technology, a proven coastal defence system, as part of proactive measures to address the growing threat of coastal erosion. The Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Mr Ekundayo Alebiosu, made this known on Monday during the ministerial press briefing at the Baguda Kalto Press Centre, Alausa. The commissioner said that he had embarked on a strategic working visit to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, where he led a high-level delegation to explore international best practices and forge partnerships for sustainable coastal management. Squash champions of the IGP Open Contenders Invitational Classics flanked in the middle by CSO Charity Enebeli     Squash     Sixteen-year-old Yusuf Quadri, a junior champion, shocked the crowd by defeating senior top seeded player, Lanre Abdulrahman in the men’s final of the IGP Squash Contenders Invitational Classics on Thursday in Lagos.   The epic five-round action packed game ended 11/5, 11/13, 11/9, 6/11 and 7/13 in favour of Quadri.   Top seed Olatunji Jadesola also impressed, overpowering Modupe Faniyi in four sets to clinch the women’s singles title with a scoreline 11/7, 7/11, 11/5 and 11/4.   Assistant Commissioner of Police Abubakar Yakubu praised the event, calling it a showcase of squash excellence and a platform for youth development.   “We saw the best of squash.   The Lagos State Government is fast attaining a 24-hour driven economy which would allow companies to operate in a safe and secure environment.
