SFA President Re-elected, Seeks Unity, Progress in African Squash

  Dr Lucky Mlilo has expressed appreciation to members of the Squash Federation of Africa (SFA) following his re-election as President during the Federation’s virtual Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Friday, July 25, 2025. In a message to the SFA community, Mlilo described his re-election as a vote of confidence in his leadership, pledging to intensify efforts toward the growth and sustainability of squash across the African continent. “I express my profound gratitude to the SFA family for the overwhelming support, commitment, and loyalty that resulted in my re-election as President alongside other executive members,” he said. Adamu Erena emerges SFA's vice-president, reiterates commitment to Squash development in Africa

  Adamu Ahmed Erena has reaffirmed his dedication to the advancement of squash across Africa following his election as Vice President (West and Central Africa) of the Squash Federation of Africa (SFA). Erena, a former President of the Nigeria Squash Federation (NSF), made the pledge on Saturday during the federation’s virtual Annual General Meeting (AGM), where delegates from over a dozen African countries participated. “I remain committed to fostering squash development in Africa and deepening regional cooperation through the SFA platform.  This is a shared journey of growth,” Erena said after securing 77.8 per cent of votes to defeat incumbent NSF President, Boye Oyerinde. Ten finalists emerge for Eko Flavor Junior culinary competition

Ten finalists have emerged in the ongoing Eko Flavor Junior Competition, a school-based culinary contest organised by the Lagos State Government to promote food creativity among children aged 10 to 13. The competition, which began with over 350 entries, saw 20 young chefs shortlisted for the semi-finals.  The final 10 were selected during a keenly contested cook-off held at the Lagos Food Hub in Idi-Oro, Mushin on Friday. Eko Flavor Junior is a flagship initiative under the state’s food systems reform, designed to identify budding culinary talents and encourage healthy eating habits among children. 5th Greater Lagos Summit to deepen inclusive governance

The President of Greater Lagos Initiative, Mr Adeniji Olusola, said at a news conference in Ikeja, that the summit would remain a people-oriented forum. Musiliu Obanikoro, has mourned former President Muhammadu Buhari, saying that Buhari had played his part.   The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Buhari died on Sunday in London during an illness. He was aged 82 years. Obanikoro said in an interview with NAN: “We are from God and to Him we shall return. “He played his part, first as a military officer, later as a military head of state and a civilian president. “My condolences to his family and loved ones.” Obanikoro, also a former Minister of State for Defence, prayed God to grant Buhari’s soul eternal rest. NAN reports that Buhari became Nigeria’s civilian President in 2025 after defeating incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan in the country’s presidential election. Lagos launches SME export training programme

  The Lagos State Government, in collaboration with Afreximbank and ImpactHER, has launched a six-week training programme for 253 SMEs to boost export promotion efforts.   After the training, 20 outstanding SMEs will be selected to attend the Intra-Africa Trade Fair (IATF) in Algiers, Algeria, scheduled for September 2025.   Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperative, Trade and Investment, Mrs Folasade Ambrose, announced this during the programme’s launch in Alausa, Ikeja.   She said the initiative aims to broaden the reach of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and recognise their role in economic development.   Ambrose described the opportunity as a gateway to 1.3 billion consumers across Africa, attracting buyers, investors, and policy influencers.   She added the programme would help position Lagos-based businesses as globally competitive exporters, fostering wealth creation and job opportunities.   Ambrose noted that export readiness is vital ...
