Caring Africa, LASG urge inclusion, investment in care economy

   The founder of Caring Africa , Mrs Blessing Adesiyan , has urged Africans to elevate the culture of care across homes, workplaces and governance, describing care as the foundation that keeps economies running. Adesiyan made the advocacy on Wednesday in commemoration of the International Day of Care , in Lagos . Caring Africa is a pan-African organisation committed to transforming the care economy by shaping policy, technology, workplace standards, and storytelling.  The event drew participants from government and private sectors, as proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly . Me Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso , says Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu ’s administration remains unwavering in its commitment to order, security and infrastructural growth across the state. Omotoso, speaking with Government House correspondents on Sunday, revealed that the state’s 2025 budget of N3.366 trillion has achieved a remarkable 80 per cent performance, indicating substantial progress across all sectors. “As of September, the budget performance was about 79 per cent, but it has now exceeded 80 per cent. LASG begins compensating residents affected in Oworonshoki demolitions

      Compensation By Aderonke Ojediran The Lagos State Government has started paying compensation to residents affected by the ongoing urban regeneration project in Oworonshoki , Kosofe Local Government Area . The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that some communities in Oworonshoki were demolished on Sept. 6, 2025, which led to a protest and the temporary blockage of the Third Mainland Bridge . Mr Oladimeji Animashaun, Director-General of the Lagos State Urban Renewal Agency (LASURA), who supervised the exercise on Friday, said that 80 beneficiaries had so far been compensated. “We started the payment of compensation yesterday, and several residents have received their cheques. “The total number of people being compensated is 80.  Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State on Tuesday called for renewed commitment to occupational safety and health as economic and social activities heighten towards the end of the year. Speaking at the Lagos State Occupational Safety and Health Conference in Victoria Island, themed “Occupational Safety and Health as a Catalyst for Nation Building,” Sanwo-Olu launched the Safety First Campaign, urging employers to prioritise the wellbeing of their workforce.
