2025 Budget: Sanwo-Olu seeks residents input, holds consultative forum

  Budget By Aderonke Ojediran Lagos, July 23, 2024(NAN) Lagos State Government, on Tuesday, held a stakeholders’ consultative forum to seek the residents’ inputs in the state’s 2025 Budget in order to meet their needs.   Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu was represented by Mr Ope George, the state Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, at the forum held at Eagle’s Club, Surulere.   The governor said that the forum was to update stakeholders on the state 2024 Budget performance for the first half of the year.   The commissioner added that the forum was aimed to inform stakeholders about the government’s plans ahead. Lagos students dissociate selves from planned nationwide protest

    Protest By Aderonke Ojediran Lagos, July 23, 2024 (NAN) Students of tertiary institutions in Lagos State, on Tuesday, dissociated themselves from the planned nationwide protest by some Nigerians. The planned protest is  tagged #EndBadGovernanceinNigeria. It is scheduled for Aug. 1 to  Aug. 10 to draw the attention of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to the plight of Nigerians and rising cost of living in the country.   Mr Alimi Lekan-Idris, President, National Association of Lagos State Students (NULASS), on Tuesday  made the disclosure  at a press conference at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital College of Medicine, Ikeja. LASG urges residents to report infrastructure vandalism

  Vandalism By Aderonke Ojediran Lagos, July 23, (NAN) The Lagos State Government on Tuesday called on residents to report any act of suspected vandalism of roads, bridges and other infrastructure in the state. The state’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotosho, made the call during a tour of the Odo Iya Alaro Bridge in Kosofe Local Government Area of the state. “Every time we fix bridges, they vandalise it; people are not taking responsibility for whatever the government has done to make life easy for motorists. “So I will like to appeal to residents that if you see something say something. Oborevwori urges corps members to respect host communities cultural norms, traditions

Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta has urged Corps members to respect the cultural norms and traditions of the people among whom they find themselves.   The Lagos State Government (LASG) has reiterated its commitment to proffer solutions to climate change by planting several trees in the next one year. Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu said this in commemoration of Lagos State Tree Planting Day at the 2024 tree planting ceremony which held at the Lagos House Marina on Sunday July 14, 2024. Abibatu Mogaji’, a captivating stage play, was written by renowned play writer Prof. Ahmed Yerima, produced by former broadcaster Ola Awakan. LASG fixes 393 roads by H1 2024 – LSPWC

    Roads By Aderonke Ojediran Lagos, July 9, 2024 (NAN) The Lagos State Government (LASG) says it has fixed no fewer than 393 roads in its various local governments and Local Council Development areas (LCDA) in the first half of 2024. Mr Tokunbo Ajanaku, the General Manager, Lagos State Public Works Corporation (LSPWC), made this known  in a statement on Tuesday. Ajanaku said that it used various approaches such as asphalt premix, interlocking paving stones and palliative interventions for some of the road maintenance and rehabilitation works it had carried out. “The agency has a mandate from Gov. Embrace camp’s regimented lifestyle – NYSC DG advises corps members

Yusha’u Ahmed, has advised corps members to embrace the regimented lifestyle of the camp and stop seeking rejection or relocation. Ahmed gave the advice on Monday while addressing the 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream 1 corps members at the NYSC orientation camp, Issele-uku, Delta. The DG commended camp officials and corps members for the camp’s state, urging them to stay disciplined and observe good hygiene to guard against cholera or any form of disease. Lagos State concludes 2024 Hajj operations

  Lagos State government has concluded the 2024 Hajj exercise with the safe arrival of the last and final batch of the state pilgrims from the kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Wednesday. The pilgrims on board Flynas flight XY9066 touched down at the Muritala Mohammed International Airport Lagos with 401 pilgrims and 11 officials that comprised 144 Lagos and 257 Osun State pilgrims. Speaking to the journalists on arrival at the tarmac of the airport, the Amir-ul-Hajj and State Commissioner of Home Affairs, Hon. Ibrahim Layode said the Hajj operation was a success.
