Lagos to unveil new waterfront experience for detty December

  Lagos State Government says residents and visitors will enjoy a significantly enhanced waterfront experience this Detty December , following reforms targeted at strengthening the city’s tourism appeal. The Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Mr Dayo Alebiosu , said this in a statement on Sunday after the state’s tourism and hospitality stakeholders’ summit. The summit, convened by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture , focused on the theme, “Unlocking the Potentials and Opportunities of Lagos Tourism : Collaboration and Partnership for a Greater Lagos. CoElevate catalytic fund to boost health innovation in Nigeria — SFH

       The Society for Family Health (SFH), through its affiliate organisation, SFH Access to Health (SFH Access), on Thursday inaugurated the CoElevate Catalytic Fund.   The initiative is aimed at strengthening health innovation and supporting startups across Nigeria.   The fund, developed with the support of the Lagos State Ministry of Health, will provide financial and technical assistance to early-stage companies working in health technology, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH).   Other areas include pharmaceutical research and design, and non-communicable diseases (NCDs).   Chairman of SFH Access Board, Alhaji Ahmed Yakasai, described the programme as a milestone investment in the country’s health ecosystem.   “This initiative reflects our commitment to the future of healthcare and the needs of vulnerable people.   “Innovation is central to solving our health challenges, and we are determined to help the next generation of health s...

Gazmadu urges global skills push for African creative

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the initiative will run from Dec. 13, to Jan. 4, 2026. A statement signed by Special Adviser to Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr Idris Aregbe, says the initiative aims to strengthen recreational tourism for Nigerians and those returning from the diaspora for the festive season. Trade fair: Sanwo-Olu reiterates commitment to enabling environment for MSMEs

Lagos begins upgrade of waterway infrastructure

 The Lagos State Government, Sunday, said that the installation of modern concrete pontoons in selected jetties across the state, is in progress, as part of efforts to upgrade waterways infrastructure. Lagos State Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Mr Dayo Alebiosu, said that the installation will improve commuter’s experiences under the 410 million Euros Omi Eko Project. In a statement to newsmen on Sunday, he described the installation as being a major step in modernising water transport, and enhancing public confidence in boat travels. According to him, the concrete floating pontoons which function as flexible docking platforms, were already being mounted at Agboyi Ketu in Kosofe, Ijegun Egba in Amuwo Odofin, and Bayeku in Ikorodu. He said that additional sites will be included across the state. The Nigeria Squash Federation (NSF) on Thursday held a send-forth ceremony for the team at the Squash Court of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos . The contingent, comprising five players and two officials, will travel via Ethiopian Airlines and will be joined in Uganda by three other players based in the United States . Sanwo-Olu flags off rural health scheme, 5,000 residents to benefit

Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has flagged off the Rural Health Scheme , an initiative designed to provide free health insurance and improved healthcare access to underserved communities across the state. The programme, implemented through the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) under the Eko Social Health Alliance (EKOSHA), was inaugurated on Tuesday at Agboyi Ori-Omi Community in Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA). The initiative, which aligns with the governor’s Executive Order on universal health coverage , will ensure that no resident is excluded from essential healthcare services due to distance or economic status.
