Team Nigeria will on Saturday Nov. 15 depart Lagos for Kampala, Uganda, to participate in the Africa Senior Squash Championship scheduled to hold from Nov. 17 to Nov.22.

The Nigeria Squash Federation (NSF) on Thursday held a send-forth ceremony for the team at the Squash Court of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

The contingent, comprising five players and two officials, will travel via Ethiopian Airlines and will be joined in Uganda by three other players based in the United States.

President of the Nigeria Squash Federation, Mr Wilson Egberipou, expressed confidence that the team would defend the title it won last year.

“We have prepared well, and our players are motivated to give their best.

" Nigeria remains a dominant force in African squash, and we are confident of bringing the trophy home again,” Egberipou said.

He noted that the players had been in camp for over a month, perfecting strategies and working on team coordination ahead of the continental showdown.

“Our preparation has been intensive. The board, coaching crew and players have worked tirelessly because we know expectations are high,” he added.

Nigeria will compete in the male and female singles as well as the team events.

One of the players, who spoke on behalf of the team, said they were eager to make the nation proud.

“We’ve trained hard and are ready to conquer Africa once again.

"The spirit in camp is high, and we are grateful for the support of the federation,” the player said.

The Africa Senior Squash Championship will feature top-ranked players from across the continent.
