Asaba, Nov. 28, 2023 (NAN) National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has sworn-in 2,373 youth corps

members of the 2023 Batch ‘C’ Stream ‘II’ deployed to Delta State for the one year national service.

Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, who declared the three weeks orientation course open on Tuesday at Issele Uku Orientation camp, congratulated them on successful completion of their academic pursuits, which qualified them for national service.

Oborevwori, who was represented by Agbateyiniro Isaac, the Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, said orientation course was designed to instill necessary skills and leadership values for successful participation in the one-year programme.

He said “I urge you to settle down and actively engage in the various activities of the orientation course. Your commitment during this orientation will pave the way for the skills needed in subsequent phases.

“While the training on camp may be demanding, its benefits are invaluable. A good example is the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme which offers you an opportunity to learn skills that will make you both employable and potential employers.”

Oborevwori urged the NYSC members to be prepared to serve with dedication and patriotism.

Mr Olusegun Alao, the NYSC Coordinator in the state, urged the youth corps members to recognise that the NYSC platform is a once-in- a-lifetime opportunity, urging them to make optimal use of it.

He said “those who may receive honour awards at the end of the service year are those who distinguished themselves right from the orientation camp.

“I urge you to remain dutiful and actively participate in all the NYSC four cardinal programmes.

“Adapt to the inconveniences of the camp facilities, prepare your minds to settle down and leave your footprints in the sands of time, as the government and people of Delta extend their hospitality to you,” he added. (NAN)(nannews.com.ng)
