Government College student tops Ekiti quiz competition, emerges one-day Assembly Speaker

 

The UNISSCA/ESGCA Alumni Association has congratulated the management, staff and students of Government College, Ado-Ekiti, following the emergence of one of its students, Yusuf Quazim, as the overall winner of a statewide quiz competition organised at the Ekiti State House of Assembly.

The Global President of the association, Mr Olamilekan Olowe, conveyed the congratulatory message on behalf of the National Executive Council (NEC), Board of Trustees (BOT) and members of the alumni body.

Olowe said the achievement further demonstrated the school's commitment to academic excellence and intellectual development.

According to him, Quazim's outstanding performance in the competition earned him the distinction of serving as a one-day Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly.

He noted that the competition featured representatives from the 26 state constituencies, with contestants drawn from secondary schools across Ekiti State.

"The competition was highly competitive, with participants undergoing several rigorous stages before reaching the final round.

"Yusuf Quazim, representing Ado Constituency I, distinguished himself throughout the contest by demonstrating exceptional brilliance and academic excellence.

"He scored maximum points in the qualifying rounds and sustained an impressive performance in the final stage to emerge overall winner," Olowe said.

He said the feat was a source of pride not only to Government College, Ado-Ekiti, but also to the alumni association and the entire Ado Local Government Area.

According to him, the achievement reflects the dedication and hard work of the school's management, teachers and support staff.

Olowe particularly commended the Principal of the school, Mrs Morenike Odeyemi, for providing the leadership that has continued to foster academic excellence among students.

"This remarkable accomplishment reflects the high academic standards and commitment to excellence for which Government College, Ado-Ekiti, is renowned.

"We congratulate Yusuf Quazim, the school management, teachers and all stakeholders for this well-deserved recognition.

"The success is a testament to the quality of education and mentorship being provided in the school," he said.

The alumni president expressed optimism that the achievement would inspire other students across the state to strive for excellence and bring further honours to their schools and communities.

The final results of the competition showed Quazim of Government College, Ado-Ekiti, finishing in first place, while Ajayi Tobiloba of Erinmope High School, Erinmope-Ekiti, representing Moba II Constituency, came second.

Okeke Matthew of Doherty Memorial Grammar School, Ijero-Ekiti, representing Ijero Constituency, placed third in the competition.
