Lagos council unveils secretariats, 3 PHCs to boost healthcare

The Chairman of Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mr David Odunmbaku, has inaugurated major grassroots development projects.

The projects include a remodelled council secretariat and three newly upgraded Primary Health Centres (PHCs).

The facilities were commissioned on Tuesday across Powerline, Gbadamosi and Akiode areas of the council.

Odunmbaku said the projects reflected his administration’s commitment to improving residents’ welfare.

He described the developments as strategic investments under the HEYSRELOADED Agenda.

The chairman said healthcare remained the first priority of his administration.

According to him, a healthy population was essential for sustainable economic and social growth.

“The commissioning of these projects is a declaration that local government can work,” Odunmbaku said.

He added that public resources could be managed responsibly to deliver measurable results.

The chairman said the facilities would improve access to essential services for residents.

“The facilities we commission today represent institutional investments that will outlive administrations and serve generations,” he said.

Odunmbaku explained that the remodelled secretariat would strengthen administrative efficiency.

He noted that the PHCs would bring quality healthcare closer to communities.

The chairman disclosed that the health centres were equipped with modern facilities.

He added that qualified medical personnel had been deployed to provide effective services.

Odunmbaku said the council’s health programmes aligned with broader development priorities.

These include the Renewed Hope Agenda and Lagos State’s THEMES+ development agenda.

He revealed that more than 175 healthcare professionals had been recruited.

The council had also procured ambulances and improved medical workers’ welfare.

Odunmbaku highlighted the See-a-Doctor Initiative as a major healthcare intervention.

The programme was implemented through a partnership with Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).

He said the initiative expanded access to medical services among residents, adding that more than 1,200 minor surgical procedures had been completed at Gbadamosi PHC.

The chairman also outlined achievements in education and youth empowerment.

He said scholarships, examination support and classroom renovations had been provided.

“Over 5,600 pupils have benefited from artificial intelligence, robotics and machine learning,” he said.

Odunmbaku said the programmes were designed to prepare children for the future. He also listed support for small businesses through interest-free loans.

Other interventions included food subsidies and infrastructure development projects.

He also highlighted the reconstruction of Slifatu Abioye Road among ongoing projects.

The chairman similarly cited the bridge linking Adeshina and Adeniyi Oke Streets.

He disclosed ongoing channelisation works connecting Murhi International to Alagbole.

Other projects include Oluwole Mini Stadium and Eweobaja Market reconstruction.

He assured residents that people-centred policies would remain his administration’s focus.

“Our goal is clear: to make Ojodu LCDA a benchmark for grassroots governance,” he said.

He said the council would continue contributing to national development through effective leadership.
