Yuletide: Lawmaker distributes 2,720 bags of rice in Apapa
A lawmaker, Dr Adesola Adedayo (Apapa Federal Constituency), on Sunday distributed 2,740 bags of 10kg rice to residents of the constituency.
The distribution held at the Apapa Astro Turf.
“We are here today in the spirit of the season, because Christmas and New Year are seasons to give.
“I have come back to my constituency to give back to the people of Apapa Federal Constituency.
“Everyone was been carried along – our traditional leaders, community leaders, association of artisans, etc.
“We have 274 polling units and we gave 10 bags of 10kg rice to each polling units to avoid stampede,” he said.
The lawmaker said that his team ensured proper crowd management to avoid stampede.
He said that political party leaning had nothing to do with benefitting from the gesture.
“It is not given to specific people, people were selected randomly.
“I came here two weeks ago for empowerment for our artisans,” he said.
Dr Tajudeen Olusi, the Leader of the Governance Advisory Council of Lagos State, thanked the lawmaker for ensuring orderliness at the event.
” Apart from the gift being shared, I like the fact that the organisers have managed the crowd well,” he said.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr Akinjide Cole, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the lawmaker’s gesture was commendable.
“I appreciate the fact he thought it right to give us this token. It will go a long way,” he said.
Another beneficiary, Mr Ezeani Obby, also thanked Adedayo for the gesture.
