APC aspirant rejects Apapa Reps primary results, alleges manipulation

An aspirant for the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives ticket for Apapa Federal Constituency, Mrs Funmilayo Muhammed, has rejected the outcome of the party’s primary election held on May 16, alleging widespread irregularities and manipulation.

Muhammed, in a statement issued on Sunday in Lagos, described the results being circulated from the exercise as “fake and doctored”.

She alleged that results from some wards were manipulated despite reported cancellations arising from irregularities during the exercise.

“I categorically reject the results being circulated and announced in respect of the APC House of Representatives primary election for Apapa Federal Constituency.

“This rejection is based on clear electoral infractions that undermine the credibility of the process,” she said.

According to her, results from Wards E, I and F were allegedly manipulated and later included in the outcome being circulated.

“Cancelled wards were doctored. Results from Ward E, Ward I and Ward F, which were manipulated due to irregularities, have surfaced in the results being circulated,” she alleged.

Muhammed also alleged the use of ghost membership cards in some wards during the exercise.

“In Ward A, Ward B and Ward C, a large number of ghost membership cards were allegedly used by persons not registered or known in those wards.

“This is a direct violation of party guidelines and a deliberate attempt to subvert the will of genuine APC members,” she said.

The aspirant said the developments were contrary to the principles of fairness, transparency and internal democracy for which the APC stands.

“What played out in parts of Apapa was the opposite of the values of the APC.

" It was an attempt to impose a predetermined outcome through fraud, manipulation and disenfranchisement of loyal party members,” she added.

Muhammed called on the APC state and national leadership, as well as the party’s electoral committee, to investigate the alleged anomalies and discard what she described as doctored results.

“We will not accept results built on fraud. The people of Apapa deserve a process that reflects their true choice,” she said.
